San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance Form Due April 30, 2018
On April 5, 2018, the San Francisco Office of Labor Standards (OLSE) held a webinar detailing how to complete the 2017 Employer Annual Reporting Form under the city’s Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO). Employers covered by the HCSO are required to submit this form by April 30, 2018 or may be penalized up to $500 per quarter. The OLSE suggests that employers review the Instructions as well.
Employers seeking to determine whether they need to complete the form may fill out the four introductory questions here.
Additionally, as of January 1, 2018 the health care expenditure rate is $2.83 per hour for large businesses (100 or more employees total) and $1.89 per hour for medium-sized businesses (20 – 99 employees total).
San Francisco Amends Ban the Box Regulations
On April 3, 2018, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed an amendment to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. A summary of the changes is provided in the Legislative Digest. One of the primary changes is that the ordinance will apply to all employers with five or more employees instead of only to employers with 20 or more employees.
The amendment is effective October 1, 2018.
