DOL Updates Two Required Posters
On July 27, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced two mandatory poster changes. Effective August 1, 2016, employers must post updated versions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) posters.
Significant changes were made to the FLSA poster, including:
- New information discussing the consequences of misclassifying workers as independent contractors.
- New information relating to the rights of nursing mothers.
- Updated information regarding DOL enforcement.
- Revised information relating to tip credits.
Changes to the EPPA poster were minor. Contact information for the DOL was updated and the amount of the fine for violations was removed from the enforcement section.
