Civil Air Patrol Leave

On June 9, 2017, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed legislation (S.B. 370) requiring public and private employers with 15 or more employees to provide up to 15 days of unpaid leave to an employee engaged in a Civil Air Patrol mission or training. The law prohibits employers from discharging, reprimanding, or penalizing a member of the State Wing of the Civil Air Patrol because of an absence due to Civil Air Patrol service or training. The law also provides reemployment and benefit protections for returning members along with seniority rights.

The law became effective July 1, 2017.
