Hearing Aid Coverage for Children Act

On May 8, 2017, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed legislation (S.B. 206) requiring health plans to provide coverage for hearing aids for children. The law also details the frequency of replacing hearing aids, coverage of services and supplies, and options for higher priced devices.

The law is effective July 1, 2017.

Paid Sick Leave for Care of Immediate Family Member

On May 8, 2017, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed legislation (S.B. 201) allowing employees who work at least 30 hours a week for an employer with 25 or more employees to use sick leave for the care of immediate family members.

The law is effective July 1, 2017.

Minimum Wage Law

On May 8, 2017, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed legislation (H.B. 243) relating to minimum wage law to pre-empt local government mandates requiring additional pay to employees based on schedule changes.

The law repeals conflicting laws, and is effective July 1, 2017.
