Proof of Age for Purposes of Obtaining Child Labor Permits
On April 21, 2016, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad signed legislation (H.F. 2274) concerning documentation of age for purposes of obtaining a child labor permit. The law provides that a driver’s instruction permit can be used as proof of age for purposes of obtaining a child labor permit from the labor commissioner. The law also provides that when designated proofs of age are not obtainable, documentation issued by the federal government that is deemed by the commissioner to be sufficient evidence of age, or an affidavit signed by a licensed physician, are sufficient evidence of age.
The law goes into effect on July 1, 2016.
