Governor Signs Fair Chance Employment Initiative Executive Order
On February 1, 2017, Kentucky Governor Matt Beven signed Executive Order 2017-64, known as the “Fair Chance Employment Initiative.” The order requires state agencies to amend their job applications to remove questions regarding convictions and criminal history. The order also prohibits agencies from inquiring into an applicant’s criminal history until the applicant has been contacted to interview for a position, unless required to do so by law.
The order went into immediate effect upon signing.
