Massachusetts Employment Law Update – July 2016
Prohibition of Gender Identity Discrimination in Public Accommodation
On July 8, 2016, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker signed legislation (S.B. 2407) amending state law to prohibit places of public accommodation from discriminating on the basis of gender identity. The bill also requires the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination to adopt regulations for purposes of enforcing the law.
The law goes into effect on October 1, 2016.
