Executive Order Barring Discrimination Based on Gender Identity or Expression
On June 30, 2016, New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan issued an Executive Order (EO 2016-4) prohibiting discrimination in state government on the basis of gender identity or gender expression. The EO also requires:
- All state agencies to review and revise their policies as necessary to ensure that they do not discriminate on the basis of gender identity or gender expression;
- The Departments of Justice and Administrative Service to review and revise state contract language to include protections against discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression; and
- The Division of Personnel to provide guidance to state agencies in implementing the EO by September 15, 2016, and propose rules changes as necessary.
