Risk & Insurance magazine, a leader in risk management and commercial insurance news, recently interviewed ThinkHR Chief Knowledge Officer Laura Kerekes for an August 30 article on Ban the Box legislation. Ban the Box has been implemented in 31 states, where employers are no longer allowed to include a question on applications asking candidates if they have been convicted of a crime. Laura explains that these laws widen the candidate pool and give qualified applicants a fairer chance. However, they do not come without risk and some studies have shown that the laws may do more harm than good.
