Virginia Employment Law Update – April 2017
VOSH Safety and Health Poster Updated
Virginia employers are required to post the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) Law
Job Safety and Health Protection poster. All private and public employers must post this notice in a prominent place where employees normally report to work. Employers are subject to a citation and possible fine upon failure to display the poster.
In May 2017, the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry updated its VOSH poster and made the following changes:
- Notification that employees may not be discharged or discriminated against for filing safety and health complaints.
- New information about reporting fatalities or certain types of injuries to VOSH Enforcement within eight hours.
- Updated the revision date to May 2017.
