State Whistleblower Protections

On April 17, 2017, Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed legislation (S.B. 5374) modifying the state whistleblower protections by protecting the rights of state employees making disclosures about improper governmental action, regardless of whether an investigation is initiated under Wash. Rev. Code § 42.40.040 (report of improper governmental action).

The law is effective 90 days after adjournment (projected to be approximately July 22, 2017).
