Criminal Penalties for Unemployment Benefits Fraud

On February 27, 2018, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed legislation (A.B. 710) creating criminal penalties for any person who knowingly makes a false statement or representation to obtain any unemployment insurance benefit payments, either for himself, herself, or for any other person.

The law became effective April 1, 2018.
