Veterans’ Preference On June 1, 2018, Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed legislation (S.B. 573) permitting private, nonpublic employers to grant a preference in hiring and promotions to employees and applicants who are veterans, spouses of certain disabled veterans, or surviving spouses of deceased veterans.
