Pregnant Women in the Workplace

On July 6, 2017, Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy signed legislation (H.B. 6668) improving workplace protections for pregnant women by prohibiting employers from limiting, segregating, or classifying a pregnant employee in a way that would deprive her of employment opportunities due to her pregnancy. The law also requires employers to provide written notice of the right to be free from discrimination in relation to pregnancy, childbirth, and related conditions, including the right to a reasonable accommodation.

The law is effective October 1, 2017.
