Workers’ Compensation Treatment Plans
On June 21, 2016, Hawaii Governor David Ige signed legislation (H.B. 2017) regarding workers’ compensation treatment plans. In an effort to improve the efficiency of the state’s workers’ compensation system, the bill allows a physician to transmit a treatment plan to an employer by mail or facsimile. Beginning in 2021, the bill requires employers to allow physicians to submit a treatment plan by certified mail, in addition to facsimile or electronic means. The bill also specifies requirements for receipt and acceptance of treatment plans.
