Kentucky Employment Law Update – April 2017
Unemployment Insurance for Military Spouses
On April 10, 2017, Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin signed legislation (H.B. 375) prohibiting disqualification for unemployment benefits for a worker who leaves a job to follow a military spouse who has been reassigned to another military base or duty location that is 100 miles or more from the worker’s home. The law also deletes the requirement that if a spouse is relocated to another state, then the state must have adopted a similar statute for the worker to receive benefits.
The law is effective June 29, 2017.
