Background Checks and Child Care Facilities
On May 30, 2017, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval signed legislation (S.B. 46) revising provisions governing background checks of operators, employees, and certain adult residents of a child care facility.
The law is effective on July 1, 2017.

National Guard Members of Other States
On May 29, 2017, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval signed legislation (A.B. 337) conferring employment and leave protections to National Guard members of not only Nevada but those who work in Nevada and are members of another state’s National Guard.
The law is effective July 1, 2017.

Occupational Safety for the Entertainment Industry
On May 24, 2017, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval signed legislation (A.B. 190) requiring supervisory employees at a site where motion pictures or television programs are produced to complete an Occupational Safety and Health Administration approved OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour health and safety training course, as applicable. If an employee fails to provide his or her employer with proof of this required training, then he or she must be suspended or terminated. Employers will be administratively fined if such action is not taken when an employee fails to complete the training.
The law is effective January 1, 2018 with additional provisions effective January 1, 2019.
